Our Mission

What do those words mean? Well, we gather together because we think that’s what God wants for us—to be a community. More than a community, we are like a big family who take care of each other and work hard to love and care for the world around us. And, like Jesus, we try to love and welcome everyone — regardless of who they are or where they come from!

What's Happening at Trinity?
Trinity this week – Welcome Back – August 31, 2025
Hello Trinity Friends,
After a time for rest and renewal, your staff are ready to get back to Trinity and the regular routines that the fall season brings! The Trinity offices will re-open on Wednesday September 3rd at 9 am. Our Sunday worship resumes on Sunday September 7th at 10:30 am. You are encouraged to bring your school or work bags to worship on Sunday to receive a blessing. Following the worship service, you are invited to Camp Tillicum for our annual Rally Back Church Picnic. You will see more about that below.
Fifth Sunday Service at Carmichael United Church – this Sunday August 31st at 10:30 am. Please join your United Church friends at Carmichael United Church (521 Four Mile Lake Rd) for a special outdoor service. Please bring a lawn chair and water bottle.
Trinity Family News
During the summer months, we were saddened to learn of the death of two beloved Trinity members: Pam Somerville and Dainty dePencier.
Dainty was a regular fixture in the Trinity kitchen where she volunteered with the apple pie project and with the UCW preparing sandwiches and squares for the many Trinity events that the UCW provided food for. She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family. Dainty’s funeral was held last week at Martyn Funeral Home.
Pam Somerville was a gifted artist and a beloved member of Trinity. Pam generously donated many pieces of art for a Trinity fundraiser a few years ago, so many of us are fortunate to have some of Pam’s beautiful art in our homes or offices! Pam’s Celebration of Life will take place on Friday September 5th at 11 am in Trinity’s sanctuary. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel
Canadian Shield Regional Council Family News
We share the news of the death of John “Jack” Page on August 26, 2025 in his 91st year. Jack was a faithful and dedicated servant within the life of the United Church, especially through his leadership at Emmanuel United Church, North Bay.
Visitation will take place at Emmanuel United Church on Friday September 5th from 6:30 – 8 pm and the memorial service will take place on Saturday September 6th, 10:30 am at Emmanuel.

Rally Back Picnic
On Sunday September 7th at 2 pm, everyone is invited to Camp Tillicum for our annual church picnic. There will be games, food, fellowship and a lakeside vesper’s service to close out the event. Sandwich meat and buns are provided by the AOTS and refreshments and icecream provided by the Christian Education Committee. Please bring a potluck appetizer or side dish to share, plates, cutlery and a lawn chair. Camp Tillicum is located at 774 Tillicum Bay Road (off of Hwy 654).See the flyer at the end of this email for more information!
Apple Pies
We are so fortunate to have this incredible apple pie ministry! The pie production will kick into gear as soon as September rolls in! Volunteers are always needed to help make this pie project a success. Please set aside some time to help if you can. The dates are as follows:
Monday September 1, 9:00 am – clean the kitchen and set up for pies
Tuesday Sept 2 and Wednesday Sept 3, 9 -1 – spice bags and dry pastry
Tuesday Sept 9 and Wednesday Sept 10, 9 -1 – pie bottoms.
Saturday October 4 – Apple Picking
Sunday October 5 (after church) – Apple washing and room set-up
Monday October 6 through to Thursday October 9, 9 – 1 – and Tuesday Oct 7, 6 – 8:30 pm – Pie Assembly

Trinity Arts and Nipissing University present Ken Steacy on Edutainment”
Trinity is proud to host Nipissing University’s Annual Anne Clendinning Lecture 2025. On Thursday September 11th from 7pm to 9pm, come see a FREE lecture from legendary comic book artist Ken Steacy about, “EDUTAINMENT: Visual Storytelling In Service of Education, Instruction, and Advocacy.” ‘Edutainment’ delivers educational content in an entertaining form, in service of instruction, education, and advocacy. It does so by capitalizing on visual storytelling’s inherent ability to engage its audience! (Ken Steacy will also provide a one-of-a-kind sketch of North Bay’s own Shad-Man as a fundraiser for Trinity!)
Trinity Groups
Groups for Youth & Kids

Trinity Youth Group
Trinity youth, and occasionally youth from other area churches, meet throughout the year. We participate in a variety of fun activities with a goal towards building a community of faith and friendship. We hold a yearly Prayer Vigil, organize a major Christmas Bag Outreach, participate in the occasional bible study, attend wider Church events such as Worshiplude, the Niagara Youth Festival and Rendezvous, enjoy local events such as Escape Rooms, Nature Hikes, Games Nights and more!

Sunday School
Our Sunday School is dynamic and fun. You may find us in the kitchen cooking, in the gym playing games, in the fellowship hall doing crafts and more! We use a rotational model of Sunday school where children engage the bible story through crafts, cooking, games, discovery, music, drama and more! All children are welcome!
We also have a nursery for pre-school aged children which is supervised by a paid caregiver.

Nursery
Children from birth to age 3 are cared for by a paid caregiver. Our nursery is a cozy, safe and fun place for children to spend time in while their parents, grandparents or caregivers attend worship service. Our caregivers must pass a vulnerable sector criminal record screening.

Mustard Seed Theatre Group
Mustard Seed Theatre sprang from the idea that important things can grow from tiny actions. In the parable of the mustard seed, Jesus compares the tiny seed to the Kingdom of Heaven, revealing that the smallest of seeds sprout into a great plant that provides shelter for living creatures (Mark 4:31-32). Mustard Seed was created in 2007 to provide opportunities for youth to build community around a common love of theatre.

Trinity Families
We are a group of Trinity people committed to having fun with and without our kids. We get together for outings in the North Bay area, and sometimes we get sitters and stay up late doing things that would bore the kids.
We participate in a yearly winter retreat on Family Day weekend, host a friendly Chili Cook-off and Music Night, set up special VIP seating for the Santa Claus Parade, hold a outdoor movie night, a Hallowe’en party, games nights and more!

Infant Food Shelf
Trinity United Church holds an Infant Food Bank for families with infants up to 12 months of age each Wednesday from 10 am to 12 noon. ID required.
Items that are available are:
Diapers, Baby Food, Wipes, Gift cards for formula, and other baby supplies as available.
